Nation’s best leaders announced at 2016 ALEAs
20th October 2016
Last night, the most inspiring leaders from around the country were celebrated by the Institute of Managers and Leaders at the national final of IML’s Leadership Excellence Awards (ALEAs) in Brisbane. Held by Australia’s peak body for managers, the awards coincided with IML’s Annual Conference and 75th anniversary, which were all marked by a premium gala dinner at the stunning Sofitel Brisbane Central.
Recognised for being inspirational, passionate and talented managers, the ALEAs winners were acknowledged for the significant contribution and positive impact made towards their workplace, community or institution over the past twelve months. The winner of each category was initially nominated by their peers earlier this year and progressed through a series of regional and state finals before reaching the national event last night.
IML CEO, David Pich, was impressed by the calibre of this year’s finalists. “Leaders with this degree of passion and commitment to their workplace, community or institution deserve to be celebrated,” said Pich. “I am confident that all of the finalists, especially the six winners, will continue to excel in their leadership roles long into the future.”
The winners of the 2016 ALEAs are as follows:
- Glenn Keys (ACT) Community Leader of the Year
- Paul Mead (NT) Emerging Leader of the Year
- Cherie Curtis (QLD) Leader / Manager of the Year
- Lucy O’Flaherty (TAS) Not for Profit Leader of the Year
- Dominic May (NSW) Student Leader of the Year
IML Members and the broader business community are encouraged to start thinking about who they would like to nominate for next year’s ALEAs, where outstanding leaders will once again be recognised and celebrated.
Participation in the ALEAs can enhance your business relationships, boost your profile and form part of your development, making the awards a valuable opportunity for professional development for nominees. Nominations for the 2017 ALEAs open in April.
